Why go
Gytheio climbs above its harbour in rows of colourful buildings. A waterfront walk gives the day a town rhythm, while beaches along the gulf offer a second reason to go. The small islet of Kranae, linked to the shore, adds a landmark to the harbour view.
Plan it from Agios Dimitrios
From Agios Dimitrios, make Gytheio a deliberate westward outing rather than a quick beach stop. Choose either the town and a nearby swim or a longer continuation into Mani.
